Cooperation with the University of Strathclyde

    The University of Strathclyde is a Scottish public research university located in Glasgow, United Kingdom. Founded in 1796 as the Andersonian Institute, it is Glasgow's second-oldest university, with the university receiving its royal charter in 1964 as the UK's first technological university. The university ranks among the top 30 of the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) league table published by the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES).


    The University of Strathclyde has one of the largest center of Engineering education in Europe-Royal College, all degree courses here are fully accredited by professional institutes-IET, I MechE, ICE, I ChemE etc.


    The department of Naval Architecture Ocean and Marine Engineering in Royal College has the longest education history in the world also with strong reputation for teaching and research. All courses here are fully accredited by professional bodies like The RINA and IMarEST.


Previous cooperation


    Since 2010, SMST has established cooperation with Royal College, University of Strathclyde on undergraduate exchange. Every year the most outstanding students from NWPU will be sent to Glasgow for one year exchange with the living expense support rewarded by China Scholarship Council(CSC).


    Under the agreement signed between two universities in 2014, SMST also kept 2+2, 3+1 and 4+1 program foundation with University of Strathclyde. And all the full-time students from NWPU will be rewarded partial scholarship(15% of tution fee) by University of Strathclyde.


    At the end of 2015, SMST obtained the financial support from CSC for sending joint-training and  full-time degree doctoral students to study in Royal College in next three years.
